Sophie is an experienced and passionate teacher of both children and adults. She is an accredited teacher with the Derby and Derbyshire Music Partnership and Stockport Music Service. She also teaches privately in Manchester and surrounding areas.
Sophie teaches both instrumental and theory lessons, covering all aspects of music theory up to ABRSM Grage 8 and A-Level. She can also cover exam preparation (GCSE and A-Level), including History of Music, essay writing skills, listening practice and writing exercises.
Sophie teaches Bass Guitar and Double Bass in a variety of styles, including classical, rock, pop, jazz, blues and folk from beginner to advanced standard. She also teaches beginner to intermediate Violin. She is happy to work through graded exams or through other methods of progression without exams.
Sophie also provides teaching and coaching in composition of all styles, focusing on developing technique and keeping your own voice rather than trying to mould or change your style.
Sophie is experienced in teaching both adults and children. She has also run workshops in schools and has given classes as part of an Outreach programme through the University to children with special needs, disadvantaged children and elderly people with dementia.
Sophie has a music studio in Stockport (SK6) which she is happy to teach from (but only if you're happy to have two very cute dogs watching you intently!) or she can travel to your home. She has a full and up to date DBS check which can be provided on request. Sophie is a member of the ISM (Incorporated Society of Musicians) and has full public liability insurance.
